How come blogs are better than web sites?

24 May

Yes, you read that right. Here’s why I feel blogs (weblogs) are better than static web sites.

1. Blogs are easier to manage. You can update a blog by sending an e-mail to a private e-mail address. From there, the blog engine will post that message within a few seconds. You won’t have to worry about word wrap changing, line wrap pushing important text below the fold or pictures moving. Those traits are frozen in the template.

2. Blogs allow subscriptions. When you post an update on your blog, your blog’s subscribers will receive a notification that your blog has new content. That notification can appear as an e-mail or as an entry in someone’s RSS Feed reader.

3. You can redirect domains. I am redirecting the domain http://escapethecubicle.net to a page at https://markgermanos.wordpress.com. If you have a web site that is failing you and you want to promote a blog instead, you can update your DNS forwarding like I did.
